New Development in Asian Online Gambling
Online gambling in Asia has been the topic for many discussions within the online gambling industry. While there has been a significant increase in online gambling amongst the Asian nations this last couple of years, the policies regarding online casino gaming are diverse, and very much so if comparing China and Japan's policies.
While the Chinese government is determined to revoke online gambling in China all together, Japan is actually moving toward legalizing online gambling and the existence of land based and online casinos. A recent Japanese campaign for legalizing online gambling is already in process and receiving positive feedback and the backing of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party. If this catches on, it can be the start of a transformation in policies regarding casinos online not only in Japan, but in other Asian nations as well.
The reason for this shift in Japanese outlook on the online gambling industry may have something to do with a recommendation made by a subcommittee operating under the Japanese tourism committee. This recommendation suggested online gambling can contribute to the country's economy, mainly in all aspects of taxation. Online gambling sites operators may be asked to join discussions that will be held by the tourism committee to determine the future of online casinos in Japan. This direction caused many social groups in Japan to express their concern about the influence online casino gaming can have on Japanese youth. In response to protests taking place in Japan over this matter, the government reassured these groups that no decisions will be made regarding online gambling sites without taking these issues into consideration. | |
